Symptoms of ADHD


The symptoms of ADHD are as follows:

*High activity level

_looks in non-stop movement

_usually makes restless movements with hands or feet, squirms, falls from chair

_looks for close things to play with/put in mouth

_wanders around the classroom-very hard staying in seat

*Impulsivity and lack of self-control

_utter abruptly out verbally, usually inappropriately

_can't wait for his/her turn

_often interrupts or intrudes on others

_often talks alot

_gets in problems because he/her can't "stop and think" before acting (answer first/think later)

_often interfere in physically dangerous activities without thinking about the results (for instance: jumping from heights, riding bike into roads without looking); therefore, a high frequency of damage.

*Difficulty with transitions/changing activities

_forceful acts, easily over stimulated

_socially immature

_low self-esteem and high frustration

Take carefull note that not all characteristics applyu to each child, and symptoms differ in degree (Sandra F. Rief 2,3).
